His lines of research include psychoanalysis, trauma, comorbidity, depression/personality pathology and suicide. To study these problems, he is interested in longitudinal statistical models, particularly growth curve models to examine processes of change in psychotherapy and analyze mechanisms of change taking into account temporal relationships between constructs.
Alex Behn received his undergraduate degree from Diego Portales University and then obtained a Master of Science, Master of Philosophy and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. In addition, he did his pre-doctoral internship at Montefiore Medical Center and has received a Psychoanalytic Fellowship from Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research and the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

From 1991 to 2007 she was the Executive Director of the Latin American Plant Sciences Network (RLB). Between 2007 and 2013 she acted as Head of Millennium Centres of the Millennium Sciences Initiative Programme (MSI), implemented by the Ministry of Planning (currently administered by the Ministry of Economy, Development, and Tourism) until late 2013. During 2014, she worked as an independent consultant and manager of scientific projects. She joined MIDAP in March 2015 as Head of Management and Development. She was in charge of managing technical information, coordinating continuing education, and fund raising, amongst other tasks.
In January 2018, as Executive Director of the Institute, her role expanded to include supervision of the entire operation of the Institute.

He earned his degree in Psychology from Universidad de Panamá in 1996. He holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical psychology from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2004) and has participated in several Fondecyt projects since. He earned the double degree of PhD in Psychotherapy (2012) from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Heidelberg University (Germany). In 2012, UC’s Research Office awarded him the Excellence Prize for Doctoral Theses for his study entitled “Patients’ Verbal Emotional Expressions and Their Connection with Psychotherapeutic Change: A Multi-Level Analysis of Psychotherapeutic Activity”.
He is currently in charge of the Research Unit of the Schilkrut Medical Institute and teaches Qualitative Research Methodology. In his role as MIDAP Adjunt Researcher, his research areas are part of the Therapeutic Processes line. On one hand, he has been dedicated to the analysis of relevant segments during the therapeutic conversation, such as: episodes of change, stagnation, ruptures, resolution of ruptures, relational episodes, moments of self-definition, among others. In addition, it is in charge of coordinating the multicultural study conducted jointly between Chile and Switzerland, whose objective is to determine the effectiveness of the AIT (Adolescent Identity Treatment) approach for the treatment of adolescents diagnosed with identity diffusion.
